Henry Wadsworth Longfellow(1807-1882), 1867I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day Their one-time familiar carols play, And wild and sweet the words repeat Of peace on globe, skillful will to men. I idea how, as the day had come, The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along the unbroken vocal Of peace on earth, good volition to men. And in despair I bowed my head: "There is no peace on globe," I said, "For hate is strong and mocks the song Of peace on world, good will to men." Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: "God is not dead, nor doth he sleep; The wrong shall neglect, the correct prevail, With peace on earth, good will to men." Till, ringing singing, on its mode, The world revolved from nighttime to twenty-four hour period, A voice, a chime, a chant sublime, Of peace on globe, good volition to men!
It Came Upon The Midnight Clear
Edmund H. Sears(1810-1876), 1849Information technology came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of former, From angels bending near the earth With news of joy foretold, "Peace on the globe, adept volition to men From heaven's all gracious Rex." The world in solemn stillness lay, To hear the angels sing. Yet through the cloven skies they come, Love'southward imprint all unfurled; And however their heavenly music floats Over all the weary world. Higher up its distressing and lowly plains One-time echoes plaintive ring, And ever over its Babel sounds The blessed angels sing. Notwithstanding with the woes of sin and strife The world has suffered long; Beneath the Angel-strain accept rolled Two thousand years of wrong; And man at war with human being hears not The beloved-song which they bring; O! hush the dissonance, ye men of strife, And hear the Angels sing. O ye, beneath life's burdensome load Whose forms are bending low, Who toil along the climbing way With painful steps and slow; Await now! for glad and gold hours Come swiftly on the wing; O balance abreast the weary road And hear the angels sing. For lo! the days are hastening on, Past prophets seen of former, When with the ever-circling years Shall come the fourth dimension foretold, When the new heaven and globe shall ain The Prince of Peace their King, And the whole world send back the song Which now the angels sing.

He rules the world with truth and grace, And gives to nations proof The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love; And wonders of His love; And wonders, wonders of His love. Rejoice! O Holy Night
J.Due south.Dwight & A.C.Adam, 19th CenturyO holy night, the stars are brightly shining; It is the night of our dear Savior's nativity! Long lay the world in sin and error pining, Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope, the weary globe rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees, O hear the angel voices! O night divine, O dark when Christ was built-in! O night divine, O nighttime, O nighttime divine! Led past the light of Religion serenely beaming, With glowing hearts past His cradle we stand. So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming, Here came the wise men from Orient land. The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger, In all our trials born to be our Friend! He knows our demand, To our weakness no stranger; Behold your King! Before the lowly bend! Behold your Male monarch! your King! before Him bend. Truly He taught us to love 1 some other; His police force is love and His gospel is peace. Chains shall He intermission for the slave is our blood brother And in His name all oppression shall cease. Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we, Permit all inside us praise His holy name! Christ is the Lord, Oh praise His name forever, His pow'r and glory evermore proclaim His pow'r and celebrity evermore proclaim.
O Little Town of Bethlehem
Phillips Brooks(1835-1893), 1868O little town of Bethlehem, How even so we see thee lie. Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by; All the same in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Calorie-free; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight. For Christ is built-in of Mary, And, gathered all above While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering dearest. O morn stars, together Proclaim the holy birth. And praises sing to God the King. And peace to men on world. How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is given! Then God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming; But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive Him, notwithstanding The beloved Christ enters in. Where children, pure and happy, Pray to the Blessed Kid; Where misery cries out to thee, Son of the Female parent mild; Where charity stands watching, And religion holds broad the door, The dark night wakes, the glory breaks, and Christmas comes once again. O Holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend to us, we pray; Cast out our sin and enter in; Be built-in in us today! We hear the Christmas angels The dandy glad tidings tell; O come to united states of america, abide with us, Our Lord Emmanuel!
In one case In Royal David's City
Cecil Frances Alexander(1818-1895)In one case in regal David's metropolis, stood a lowly cattle shed, where a mother laid her baby in a manger for His bed: Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ her picayune child. He came downwards to world from heaven, Who is God and Lord of all, And His shelter was a stable, and His cradle was a stall; With the poor and meek and lowly, lived on earth our Savior holy. And through all His wondrous childhood, He would award and obey, Dearest and sentry the lowly mother, in whose gentle arms He lay. Christian children all should be, mild, obedient, good every bit He. For He is our child-hood's pattern, Day past day like us He grew, He was trivial, weak, and helpless, Tears and smiles like us He knew, And He feeleth for our sadness, And He shareth in our gladness. And our eyes at terminal shall come across Him, through His own redeeming beloved; For that child then dear and gentle, is our Lord in sky above, And He leads His children on, to the place where He is gone. Not in that poor lowly stable, with the oxen standing past, Nosotros shall run across Him, but in heaven, set at God's correct paw on high; When similar stars His children crowned, all in white shall exist around.
Silent Dark
Joseph Mohr(1792-1848), 1818Silent nighttime, holy night! All is calm, All is vivid Circular yon Virgin, Mother and Child Holy Babe then Tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace. Silent nighttime, holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight! Glories stream from heaven afar; Heavenly hosts sing Al-le-lu-ia! Christ the Saviour is born! Christ the Saviour is born! Silent dark, holy night! Wondrous star, lend thy lite! With the angels let us sing Alleluia to our King! Christ the Saviour is here, Jesus the Saviour is here! Silent night, Holy night! Son of God, love's pure light Radiant beams from Thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus Lord at thy nascency; Jesus Lord at thy birth.
The First Noel
English ballad, 17th centuryThe first Noel the angels did say Was to certain poor shepherds in fields equally they lay, In fields where they lay keeping their sheep On a cold winter'southward dark that was so deep. Noel Noel Noel Noel! Born is the Male monarch of State of israel! They looked up and saw a star Shining in the East across them far, And to the earth it gave great calorie-free, And and then it continued both twenty-four hour period and night. Noel Noel Noel Noel! Born is the King of Israel! And past the light of that same star 3 wise men came from land far, To seek for a King was their intent And to follow the star wherever it went. Noel Noel Noel Noel! Born is the King of Israel! This star drew nigh to the northwest Over Bethlehem information technology took its rest, And there it did both end and stay Correct over the place where Jesus lay. Noel Noel Noel Noel! Built-in is the King of Israel! Then did they know convincingly Within that firm the King did lie: 1 entered in then for to run into, And found the Babe in poverty: Noel Noel Noel Noel! Born is the Male monarch of Israel! So entered in those wise men three Full reverently upon their articulatio genus, And offered at that place in His presence Their gold, and myrrh and frankincense. Noel Noel Noel Noel! Born is the King of Israel! Then allow usa all with i accord Sing praises to our heavenly Lord, That hath fabricated heaven and world of zippo And with His blood mankind hath bought. Noel Noel Noel Noel! Built-in is the King of Israel!
The Shepherd's Carol (round)

What Kid Is This?
William Chatterton Dix, published ca. 1865What Child is this, who laid to residuum, On Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet While shepherds sentinel are keeping? This, this is Christ the King Whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary. Why lies He in such mean estate Where ox and donkey are feeding? Good Christian, fear: for sinners hither, The silent Word is pleading. This, this is Christ the Rex Whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary. Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through, The Cantankerous be borne, for me, for you: Hail, hail, the Word made flesh, The Babe, the Son of Mary! This, this is Christ the King Whom shepherds baby-sit and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Baby, the Son of Mary. And then bring Him incense, gold and myrrh; Come up peasant, rex to ain Him. The King of Kings salvation brings; Allow loving hearts enthrone Him. This, this is Christ the King Whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Baby, the Son of Mary. Raise, raise, the vocal on high, The Virgin sings her lullaby: Joy joy for Christ is born, The Baby, the Son of Mary! This, this is Christ the King Whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring Him laud, The Babe, the Son of Mary.
When Joseph Went To Bethlehem
When Joseph went to Bethlehem I remember he took great care To place his tools and shut his store and leave no shavings there. He urged the donkey forward, and so, with Mary on its dorsum, And carried staff of life and caprine animal cheese in a little linen sack. I think at that place at the decorated inn that he was meek and milk And awed to be the guardian of Mary's sacred Child. Possibly all through the dank hours he smoothed the swaddling bands, And Jesus felt the repose strength of Joseph's gentle easily. And close beside the manger bed he dimmed the lantern's light, And held the little Jesus close upon that holy night.
While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
Nahum Tate(1652-1715), ca. 1700While shepherds watched their flocks past night, All seated on the ground, The angel of the Lord came downwardly, And glory shone around. "Fright not," said he, for mighty dread Had seized their troubled mind, "Glad tidings of nifty joy I bring To yous and all flesh." "To y'all, in David's town this mean solar day, Is born of David's line The Savior who is Christ the Lord, And this shall be the sign: The heavenly Babe you at that place shall find To homo view displayed, All meanly wrapped in swathing bands, And in a manger laid." Thus spake the seraph, and forthwith Appeared a shining throng Of angels praising God and thus Addressed their blithesome song: "All celebrity be to God on high And on the earth exist peace, Goodwill henceforth from heaven to men Brainstorm and never stop."
With Wondering Awe
With wondering awe the wise men saw The star in sky springing, And with delight, in peaceful dark, They heard the angel singing: Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to His proper noun! By light of star they traveled far To seek the lowly manger, A humble bed wherein was laid The wondrous fiddling Stranger. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to His name! And however is institute, the world around, The old and hallowed story, And still is sung in every tongue The angels' song of glory: Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to His proper name! The heavenly star its rays afar On every land is throwing, And shall not cease till holy peace In all the world is growing. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna to His name!
